Championing Caribbean Resilience: Our CGI Commitment
Our commitment, “Using WASH to Build Disaster Resilience in the Caribbean,” aims to address the critical need for sustainable WASH infrastructure in areas vulnerable to natural disasters. The Caribbean region, known for its beautiful landscapes and vibrant cultures, also faces significant challenges due to hurricanes, floods, and other climate-related events. By focusing on this region, we’re taking a proactive approach to building resilience and improving health outcomes for communities at risk.
The Scope of Our Initiative
Through this initiative, The WASH Foundation will implement disaster-resilient WASH infrastructure in 50 schools across the Caribbean. We’ll train 500 community members in WASH best practices and disaster preparedness, ensuring that local populations have the knowledge and skills to maintain and improve their WASH resources. Additionally, our efforts will provide 10,000 individuals with access to improved water and sanitation facilities. By focusing on schools and communities, we’re not just building infrastructure – we’re creating lasting change and empowering local populations to take charge of their health and well-being.
