Imagine going a day, a week, a month – without a shower. How would you feel? Not to mention living on the streets, having no privacy, sleeping on hard surfaces, not knowing when you’ll get your next meal, or your next shower. Since 2017, The WASH Foundation’s Fresh Start WASH & Wellness mobile shower program has been providing mobile showers and bathroom facilities to those experiencing homelessness. We also work to bridge the gap in supportive services by connecting individuals to partners who provide mental health counseling, identification services, housing resources, and more.
The Fresh Start WASH & Wellness mobile shower program provides more than just a warm shower- we aim to uplift those experiencing homelessness and connect them to the services that will help them rebuild and thrive.
The Fresh Start WASH & Wellness mobile shower program encompasses several key elements:
- Completely mobile and goes where there is a need
- Self-contained with no outside water or power source needed
- 36 ft lightweight trailer, towed by pickup truck, no CDL required
- Can provide up to 250 showers weekly
- 4 private, independent stalls (1 ADA compliant)
- Ceramic sink & toilet, private shower stall and dressing area
- Includes critical wrap-around services
Through these key elements, the Fresh Start WASH & Wellness mobile shower program strives to restore dignity, promote hygiene, and support the well-being of those facing homelessness in the community
