The WASH Foundation, an evolution of Clean the World Foundation continues to strengthen and expand our WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) programming in the Dominican Republic. Our team recently donated four handwashing sinks and a year’s supply of soap to Verón Health Center as part of our WASH-in-Healthcare Facilities. These sinks will allow patients, children, adolescents, and their families to wash their hands with clean water and soap, contributing to the reduction and prevention of diseases. This program will enable the healthcare facility to provide improved care to patients and set the standard for proper WASH practices throughout the surrounding community.
Along with donating new sinks, The WASH Foundation Caribbean WASH team and the Foundation’s Board of Directors donated hygiene supplies, WASH training materials, and began basic WASH education. This donation will help more than 2,000 patients who are treated monthly at the Clínica Rural de Verón facility.
The Director of the Health Center, Dr. Amaranta, was grateful for the implementation of the WASH program and thanked The WASH Foundation for making a difference in his community. In recent months, The WASH Foundation joined numerous local and international NGOs and agencies, and participated in three national Ruta de la Salud events (health route fairs) providing hygiene supplies, WASH, and health education to various communities. We are honored to have the support of the Ministry of Health as we work together for a healthier community with WASH for All.
We are excited about the future implementation of our WASH-in-Healthcare Facilities Training Program and the strengthening and expansion of our WASH-in-Schools Program in the Dominican Republic!
