The WASH Foundation and Rotary Club Come Together to Advance WASH in the Dominican Republic

Our team in the Dominican Republic recently took part in a WASH event sponsored by the Rotary Club.  The event highlighted WASH projects that Rotary runs in different provinces on the island.  Our team was invited to talk about the work The WASH Foundation, an evolution of Clean the World Foundation carries out in four schools in the Bavaro area as part of our WASH in Schools Program.  This work includes the installation and maintenance of 16 handwashing stations across the four schools and the incorporation of WASH education into the schools’ existing curriculum. We also took the opportunity to talk about all the health and hygiene-related items that we have been able to distribute to individuals and families affected by Hurricane Fiona.  In addition, on the day of the event, we donated 1,000 bars of our recycled Clean the World soap to the Rotary Club!

The Rotary Club is currently placing fixed or mobile water filters throughout 160 schools in the province of Espaillat that serve a total population of 31,270 children. WASH classes and training are also carried out for teachers and students.  We look forward to future collaborations with the Rotary Club in advancing the reach of WASH programming and infrastructure in the Dominican Republic.
