To this day, 2.3 billion people lack access to essential, clean water and basic hygiene materials. With so many people affected by this dire issue, The WASH Foundation relies on collaboration to drive positive, long lasting change for all. As such, we are delighted to partner with Design for Good to improve the quality of life of women, children, and communities worldwide by providing them with enhanced access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
So many children growing up in developing countries still lack the understanding and resources to protect themselves against deadly germ transmission because the close connection between good hygiene practices and good health is not taught in schools or at home. To help bridge this gap between hygiene education and health, The WASH Foundation and Design for Good are working to ensure the inclusion of WASH education into school curriculum through initiatives like Project Bu.
How The WASH Foundation and Project Bu Will Bridge the Gap
Design for Good’s Project Bu promotes safe hand washing and good personal hygiene practices for kids in underserved communities and schools through a sustainable product platform. Project Bu, in collaboration with The WASH Foundation, puts resources, like physical flipbooks and digital animation videos, in the hands of teachers, parents, caregivers in developing regions to teach and reinforce healthy habits at critical stages of development.
Aiding in the implementation of Project Bu, The WASH Foundation will continue to bring to life a solution that teaches and promotes good personal hygiene for kids in vulnerable communities and schools. The WASH Foundation will bring its insight and expertise as one of just a few dozen organizations named to the United Nations Global WASH Cluster to shape and deliver Project Bu and make a tangible impact.
Continuing to Bring WASH Education to All
As The WASH Foundation and Design for Good continue on the path to bring hygiene education to all, Project Bu is on its way to be a sustainable, accessible solution. We are honored to be a part of this project, and you can find out more about Project Bu here.
