Make a Change, Give a Child Access.

Every day, 3,565 children die from preventable hygiene-related illnesses. To us, that seems like 3,565 too many.

According to Val Curtis and Sandy Cairncross, lecturers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, research shows that handwashing can reduce the risk of diarrheal infection by 47%. Unfortunately, many places still lack access to the basic water, sanitation and hygiene that are necessary for healthy lives.

Check the stats:

• In 2015, 844 million people still lacked basic drinking water
• Of the 2.3 billion people lacking basic sanitation, 829 million practiced open defecation
• And In 31 out of 38 African countries with data, less than 25% of the population used basic handwashing facilities

This year, you can give a child access to water, sanitation, and hygiene education and supplies. Just $12 can help one child fight hygiene-related illnesses for one year.

Children in our WASH-in-Schools programs receive hygiene products as well as education focused on positive behavioral change related to water, sanitation, and hygiene. This year, we are planning to launch a program in central Haiti, where the effects of the 2010 cholera outbreak are still being felt. According to the CDC, four of the top five steps in preventing cholera include proper water, sanitation, and hygiene practices. With your help, we can make this program a reality and help eradicate cholera in Haiti.

Don’t hesitate. Donate and make a difference in a child’s life today.
